C’est La Vie

Hey guys!

Happy 2017! How have you been?

The word 2017 spelled out on clothespin clipped cards in front of glowing lights.

Before you mention – yes, I’m extremely aware of the fact that I haven’t posted in forever and a half -, but it’s been an incredibly and often unbelievably busy semester in school.

I don’t however, want you all to ever doubt that I no longer care about this community, because the PBC is something good and strong and powerful that I never want to neglect being a part of, or stop playing a part in. Even though I’m incredibly busy with school now that I’m an upperclassman, I’m making it a huge goal of mine to not only keep up with my academic studies, but also keep playing a part in this community, even when I don’t have sufficient time to draft a post.

I’m currently studying for my exams (which should be over in about a week, god bless), so I’ll unfortunately be occupied for now.

Once the new semester starts however, I will try my best to find time to make a post and keep up with the ongoings of the PBC. 🙂

On another note, I wanted to mention that my friend and I have begun a new blog of our own. For those of you who don’t know, I am a part of the IB (International Baccalaureate) program, and a part of my diploma counts for something called CAS – creativity, action, service. In fact, an integral part of CAS is the CAS Project, a long-term endeavor that demonstrates the 3 postulates.

IB is also a huge part of the reason why I haven’t had the time to post; there’s a lot of academic stress and work to get done, and I haven’t quite figured out the best way to manage my time yet lol 😉

But don’t worry, I definitely will!

What all that complex stuff means really, is that this blog will be something that both my friend and I will be taking quite seriously, and discussing a wide variety of topics – from academia, to creative projects, to thoughts on life and school and friendship and meeting the world.

What this really means (yeah, I’m aware I said that twice :P) is that I’ll be a lot more active on that blog, called Fragments, where I’ll be writing under the pen name of Skye Dians. 🙂

So far, this blog is still under works as we figure out what themes and shades, and content goes well and suits our taste. But if you could check out that blog by clicking the banner above and following it to see our future content, it would be greatly appreciated. 🙂

I hope you guys will follow me as I take the steps to meet the world, and describe them all on the new blog. As such, I’ll reserve this one for all things Disney per usual. 😉

And yes, show of the week is definitely Girl Meets World – it’s one of my absolute favorites. ❤ Did you hear that it didn’t get renewed for a Season 4? Girl Meets Goodbye just aired too and it was such a reminiscent one for all those who watched Boy Meets World. Such a shocker, since I loved that show so much…

I’ll see you all next post, and I promise that it won’t be 3 months from now 😉

Fly with you,

2016 Pixie Hollow Games | Water Talent Pride

It’s THE event of the summer!

Games Banner

Hey pixies!

The Pixie Hollow Events Committee recently released a post on Marigold’s blog announcing our biggest event of the season — maybe even the year. Honestly? I’m not even exaggerating because we’ve put so much effort into making sure everyone can enjoy it.

Sound interesting?

Fill out the form on Marigold’s blog to participate in the Games by clicking the large banner above, and read more about the event by clicking here!

Myself, being a water fairy, it should come at no surprise that I’ll be cheering on the water-talents at the games!

Not saying that the other talents are not up to par in any way, but I’m just biased towards my own talent I guess. 😉 It’s an inevitable partiality really.

So what are water talents really good at?!?

Well I mean, not that I’ve thought about it a lot but here’s a list of things we water talent really excel at! 🙂

  • Water sports (like duh)
  • Being creative, like making sculptures out of water, and engaging in arts like acting — water talents are really good at showing emotion through acting and theater because we’re great at bringing the waterworks (no pun intended)

  • We’re kind and we always care for those who need are help, demonstrated very well by our mentor Silvermist, who shows that we can be great athletes but know where the line is 🙂
  • We have mastered what life depends on; water. (well, technically it’s oxygen but there’s no oxygen-talent so I rest my case :P). From a scientific perspective, life is dependent on water and many essential cellular processes involve the concentration of water on either side of a membrane. To put it in simpler terms, water is really, really, really important and us water-talents have mastered the art of using it to our advantage 😀

I have been studying biology a lot, if you couldn’t already tell 😉

… and plus I’m a huge nerd so I couldn’t resist ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • We’re great at coping with changes! Water talents tend to have a really “go-with-the-flow” type of attitude, which makes it really easy for us to solve any last minute problems that come up (and trust me, they usually do!)

  • We train hard — because like any other driven athlete, we know when to bring out A game.
  • We’re definitely not sore losers, because at the end of the day, we’re all still friends. A little competition can be healthy, but the Games celebrate all the talents in the Hollow. 🙂

So there you have it! 7 reasons why water-talents rock.

More of these “Talent Profiles” will be posted soon so keep an eye out of the blogs of all the Events Committee members for reasons why all the other talents rock as well. 🙂

But obviously in my opinion, water talents are pretty awesome, but we’ll see if the other Committee members can change my mind on that.

Sporty-Tropical Inspired / Talents’ Uniforms
August 5 – August 14, 2016

You read that right! With the 2016 Pixie Hollow Games officially beginning on August 26, 2016, the events’ committee is hosting a contest where YOU design the uniforms for each talent to wear during the games!!! 😀

For those of you who have never heard of this contest, Fashion Fair is somewhat similar to Marina’s Fashion Spotlights where pixies are given a specific theme to create an outfit around and winners are awarded flap-tastic prizes 😉

However, unlike the one-day-only Fashion Spotlights that were sometimes impossible to participate in, Fashion Fair participants have two easy options for entering this contest:

  1. Email your entry to Marigold Sunjewel (marigoldsunjewel@gmail.com)
  2. Insert a link to your entry in the comments’ section of this post

Finding Nemo As Told By Emoji

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hey all!

So first things first, if you saw that little card up at the top, that means you should follow me on Bloglovin! Crystal Airshine just posted about this and I thought it was pretty cool, so I’m definitely trying it out! 🙂

So yeah…. Follow me lol.

It’s been a while since I’ve last talked to you, but that’s mainly because I’ve been super busy with classes and work and learning and all that jazz.

As you all know, Finding Dory recently came out as a sequel to the extremely popular Finding Nemo from literally 10 years ago. It took such a long time for them to make this movie that we might need some refreshers as to what Finding Nemo was like.

So what better way to review than with some awesome emojis?!?

Here’s Finding Nemo as told by Emoji:

I always think these are the cutest things ever!

Today was a pretty short post I guess, but the coming days will bring a review for a series very near and dear to my heart. 🙂

Hint: a new book for this series just came out yesterday, and it’s been drumming up some serious hype.

And hopefully I’ll finally get to posting some more chapters of the stories I’ve been working on, as I have finally, finally, finally completed summer school and am now able to post more and work on this more often.

So, lots to look forward to 🙂

Until next post!

Review | Backstage

Hey guys! How have you been? I’ve been back in the groove of being busy again. In fact, things have been downright hectic. Projects flying places, papers to write, tests to take. In fact, I’m just wrapping up exams right about now. But who cares about that right?

Today I’m going to be writing a post on something a little bit…different.

It’s a review.

*mind explodes*

I know I don’t normally write reviews, but I figured I might as well start. Books, films, shows, the works. But Disney-related, of course. 😉

Anyways, today I’m going to be reviewing a show that I’ve been enjoying as of late. It’s called Backstage and it’s the newest show on Disney XD (I think)!

backstage banner

Backstage is a documentary-style show about freshmen students at a prestigious performing arts school called Keaton School of the Arts. There are about 3 main students per art – mainly music and dance, but also visual arts – and they get into all sorts of drama as the series unfolds.

I’m not sure where it’s available to watch on TV, but I’ve probably seen a couple videos floating around Youtube somewhere. I myself have only seen up episode 12, Plays Well With Others, but I think I have a pretty decent understanding of the dynamic of the show now.

Backstage is centered around way too many main characters at Keaton School of the Arts, the most prestigious arts school in the country. The cutthroat nature of the school raises a lot of tensions and drama between the students. So far, the show has been very dramatic. In the first 3 episodes alone, we see broken friendships, repaired friendships, and crushes.

So yeah…

There’s a lot of it. So far, I’ve really been enjoying the series though. Here are a couple of the key characters that we’ll be following throughout the series.

The Dancers

The Dancers

The Musicians

The Singers1

The Singers2

The Artists

The Artists

So yeah — you see my point right? Wayyyy too many main characters to follow. I think the way it’s stitched together is done pretty well though, because you see what’s happening in all their lives on one timeline.

However, like I said, in the beginning, it can be confusing.

The show uses a documentary style, similar to many shows like Liv and Maddie. In this show though, I do feel that the characters blurt out their thoughts half the time instead of letting their facials expressions tell use how they’re feeling. The confessionals that can be found on Youtube after every episode don’t help with that either. Personally I don’t watch them but, I’d love for the characters to emote more.

Other than that, my one real critique is that the characters don’t seem to grow very much. Obviously, as the show continues and more of their personality is revealed, I definitely think they’ll grow on me and become actual people instead of just characters, but as of right now, there has been a lot of drama, and not enough actual growth among the characters.

I mean sure, you get in a fight with your friend, but it’s how you resolve it, and how you change from the experience that makes something like this interesting. 🙂

I think this show relies a lot on drama right now, but I’d really like to see more from it than just drama.

But can I just say — I absolutely love love love the music in this show! You can find it on Spotify under Backstage Cast. It’s so catchy!

Here’s a sample of the theme song actually:

Can I just say, the cast on this show have some serious skill?!?

The dancers are really great at dancing, the musicians have serious pipes and skills with their instruments (although I’ve only really seen voice artists and not

alya and miles

I mean, despite a few of my critiques, I’m actually really enjoying the show. I anticipate every episode that comes out and I watch it right away. 🙂

I really like how realistic it all seems. I mean, high school itself is dramatic enough, but to add in the pressure of going to top-notch school that could shape an entire career.

I also really like the artistic components they weave into the show. For example, the characters on a dance track have dance showcases and duets to work on, while characters on a music track have to produce music and challenges with different genres of music. I think that makes it so much more realistic, and is really fun to watch and listen to as a viewer. 🙂

I sincerely think this show has all the makings of a great show. Plus, it’s Canadian, so I automatically cheer for it. :p

Other than that, I really think this show is good at the moment, but it could be really good. Season 2 is coming out soon and I’m super excited!

Sound interesting to you? Watch the first few episodes and let me know what you think in a comment down below! 😀

On a side note, 3 of the cast members have released their own singles that I’ve been loving! I’ll leave the link to McKenzie Small (Scarlett), Josh Bogert (Miles), and Aviva Mongillo (Alya)’s singles down below!

Let me know if you loved their music as much as me down in the comments below and which one is your favorite. And don’t forget to check out Backstage Cast on Spotify for the music from the show. 😉

I’m going to be in New York for these next few days, so I’ll see you when I get back, and hopefully post something about my trip and what I did!

See you next post, 😉
